TitleAuctions CEO To Be Featured Speaker At Credit Union Association of Oregon's Collections Forum

TitleAuctions president and CEO, Mark Coleman, will be the featured speaker at the Credit Union Association of Oregon’s (CUAO’s) Collections Forum on September 15, 2004. The topic will be Trends In Internet Remarketing.

Coleman will discuss how the Internet is changing the face of automotive remarketing nationwide, including how banks and captive finance companies are using the Internet to become more efficient at remarketing repossessed and off-lease vehicles, and more profitable.

“The nation’s premier banks and captives are forming alliances to pool inventory nationally” said Coleman, “As a result, they’re earning higher resale prices for off-lease and repossessed vehicles than local dealer-only auctions typically deliver.” He went on to say, “If credit unions are to remain competitive, they need to begin aggressively leveraging Internet venues, as well.”

Where banks and captives are offering their national inventory pool direct to auto dealers via the Internet, Coleman will argue that the credit union movement should pool its inventory nationally, and offer the inventory for sale directly to members and consumers at large. In that way, credit unions could gain benefits beyond just higher sale prices, including new loan revenue and new member applications.

Coleman will review options available to credit unions for tapping into Internet remarketing venues, including eBay Motors, AutoTrader, third-party providers such as TitleAuctions, and do-it-yourself software. In addition, he will discuss recent trends in credit union remarketing efforts, both nationally and here in Oregon.

The presentation will conclude with three credit union case studies, offering actionable advice on specific steps credit unions can take to improve their remarketing results by leveraging the power of the Internet. In addition, Coleman will have available several complimentary copies of Callahan & Associates recent report on credit union vehicle remarketing, titled “Optimizing Sales in a Competitive Vehicle Remarketing Environment.”
